The costs in product loss and security to retailers is
staggering
A recent finding is that shoplifting costs US retailers $42
Billion a year. This is in product losses, and security surveillance and
equipment to prevent the theft. This enormous figure gets passed down to the
consumer in higher costs, and intrusions. People have to stop and wait for the

consumer $403 per person. It also appears that the number one loss is by
company employees. Globally employee theft is 28%, but in the US the figure is
39% of losses are coming from company employees. The statistics show that
discount stores get pinched the most. Most retail stores have increased their
video surveillance and added security personnel.
